Characters...
Oz Bezarius/Vessalius (Main):
APPEARANCE: Oz is a 15 year old (His real age is 136) version of Jack Bezarius/Vessalius. He has short blonde hair with emerald green eyes (turning red is some of the manga), he's about 165 cm tall... most of the series he wears a white, collared dress shirt with a black jacket (which ends at his shoulders) lined with gold coloured metal bits with the shirt and jacket he would wear a bright red tie- with the top button undone (Tsk Tsk). His pants are a common green (Slightly less intense than his eyes) with lines of a lighter green. For foot wear he has knee-high brown boots. As of Retrace LXX: Oz, Oz's true form is revealed to have been that of two black rabbit dolls. Lacie had brought both into the Abyss as a child and so Oz's consciousness was shared between the two bodies. As a doll, Oz was a plain black rabbit with red eyes and a large bow on his chest, it wasn't until Alice retrieved Oz from the Abyss after her birth that she gave Oz a red and white overcoat. One of Oz's bodies was destroyed by the power of the Abyss, while the other was transformed into the Chain Oz the B-Rabbit by the Intention of the Abyss, and in this form, Oz appeared as a muscular anthropomorphic version of itself in its doll form that wielded a large red scythe. PERSONALITY: His mother was killed by the Nightray family, but despite this, he retains a bright, optimistic, energetic sometimes troublesome personality. He hides away his feeling towards his father. Oz knows that his father has always hated him, still, throughout the series Oz had retained a bright, optimistic, mischievous personality. In the early years of his existence believing he was human, Oz constantly worked to gain the praise and recognition children deserve from his 'father', Xai Vessalius. Although it is unknown exactly how much Xai knew of Oz's true existence, from what he told Lottie about having to cast Oz into the Abyss rather than killing him, for risk that it may bring Jack out of Oz, it can be inferred that Xai had some knowledge of Oz's true existence, which could have been the reason why Xai was so harsh with Oz. After being rejected by his 'father', Oz felt weak and useless. Alice Baskerville (Deceased) (Main):
APPEARANCE: In her human form, Alice has long dark brown hair with two side plaits. She has dark blue/purple eyes and a height of 150 cm. She wears a long red coat which has a white skirt that flairs out and is parted in the middle to reveal a black miniskirt and black and white boots. The coat has white diamond designs and a whitesleeves, white collar, and a large white bow on the top. As B-Rabbit, Alice appears as a large black rabbit with red eyes, fangs, and a giant scythe. B-Rabbit wears the same clothes a Alice, except with pants instead of a skirt. In her human form, Alice looks very similar to the Will of Abyss, but their color schemes are different.Alice first appears as a Chain that Oz forms an illegal contract with in the Abyss. Although Oz doesn't know it is illegal at the time, he is soon to find out. 100 years ago, she still had long dark brown hair with two side plaits without the chain pieces at the ends. Like her mother Lacie, she wore dark dresses with matching dress shoes. When she wore light-coloured dresses her sister, Intention of the Abyss, was in control of her body. PERSONALITY: Alice first appears as a chain that persuades Oz to form a contract with her in the Abyss (But she pops up in a vision-like state before hand claiming to know Oz and then trying to kill her). In fact, she is actually the infamous B-Rabbit (Bloodstained Black Rabbit), the strongest chain in the Abyss. Alice's goal is to find her lost memories, which play a major role in the story. She has a huge appetite and loves meat especially. She is hotheaded, loud spoken and says what she thinks without regard to the consequence. Despite this, she has a soft side, especially when Oz is involved. She hates when Oz leaves her alone, but to hide it she usually says, "I'm in a contract with you. You are my manservant, and as a manservant, what were you thinking, leaving me behind!?" or she just hits Oz and says, "Shut up". Raven/Gilbert Nightray (Main):
APPEARANCE: Gilbert (Or Gil for short) (Adult description) is around 182cm tall with jet black hair and golden eyes, he is of age 24 and when Oz was taken to the Abyss he was age 14. (Adult) Usually he wears a black trench coat with a high collar and silver buckling. Underneath his coat he likes to where a crisp white shirt also with a collar and a neck dress (white frilly thing). For pants he wears long black pants with matching black boots- the sole of the shoe is silver (Matching his coat). He wears white gloves (obviously on his hands). For headwear he likes to have a black wide brim hat that Oz's little sister gave to him
PERSONALITY:
He
is a wonderful cook who happens to be terrified of cats. Ten years earlier, he
was a cry-baby who was constantly picked on by Oz but he was a kind and loyal
boy regardless. Ten years later (current setting), Gilbert seems to have
developed a cold and reserved exterior but despite this, his caring and kind
personality remains intact. He is Oz's servant and is completely loyal to him.
He has numerous times, expressed and shown his commitment to him (eg. breaking
free of Doldum's
control rather than harming Oz).
He can be harsh at times; especially towards Alice, likely due to her contract with and the threat it poses to his master. He hates it and becomes furious when Oz withholds information pertaining to the contractor's seal from him although this is out of concern for him. Sometimes (for example when drunk) he reverts to his old self again, crying easily and calling Oz "Young Master." Rufus Barma revealed that he tried to quit smoking eight times and failed. According to Break, the reason he began smoking is because he idolizes Oscar Vessalius. Jack Bezarius/Vessalius:
APPEARANCE:
He wears white skin-tight pants with a long green and gold coat and a white ruffled blouse. Jack uncannily resembles an older, adult Oz with a long golden braid running down to his thighs. He has long golden eyelashes and emerald eyeslike Oz's, but has a different aura. He wears white gloves over his hands, and in most instances is shown with a pair of equestrian white and black boots. He has a pair of deep magenta/blue/purple earrings (the variations of watercolors makes the true color appear differently each time) that Lacie gave to him, the right one having been kept and later worn by her for the four months after their reunion, while the left was worn by Jack for the eight years since their meeting. Oswald gives Jack the right earring that Lacie had worn when he tells him of her death. It seems that that the reason that he and Oz seems so similar is because Oz's body is in reality Jack's body that he allowed Oz to inhabit. Oz and Gilbert met him (a piece of his soul) when they were at Cheshire dimension. Initialy he was thought to be the "hero" of 100 years ago and the one who "defeated" Glen Baskerville. Jack is alive and always has been since the tragedy, but his body does not follow the 100 year cycle and so Jack matures to his age at the time of the tragedy, then regresses to an infant. He was a child when he first met Xai Vessalius. PERSONALITY: Jack is just like Oz, seemingly always happy and overly optimistic. He can be serious on occasion, but is usually highly active and cheerful. He appears to be kind and simple, but is actually clever and highly manipulative. Something else of note about Jack in particular is that he can give a sharp gaze that appears as if he is looking right through someone and at their true selves. He harbors a grudge against his family because of his difficult years growing up, but hides this when he is with other people. Lacie is the only person whom he's ever confessed it to. He worships Lacie, and places her above everything else, including his life; eventually this leads to the Tragedy of Sablier, the near destruction of the world and subsequently many of the events that occured years later. In his grief, after Oz showed him bits of Lacie's memories and feelings at The Intention of the Abyss's request, he realized that Lacie was not going to be coming back to their world. So, he reasons, he will just have to bring the world to her. He now seeks to 'send' this world to Lacie so she won't be lonely, completely disregarding the fact that Glen explained that she was destroyed and does not exist anymore. His soul is shattered during the tragedy, excluding him from the 100 year cycle, and he fears that he will eventually be wiped out of existence. Glen (Oswald) Baskerville:
Glen Baskerville is the title of the Baskerville who would inherit the honor of being Duke of the Baskervilles. This title discerned them from the other three Dukes in the Dukedoms prior to the Tragedy of Sablier.
After a 100 year reign, the body of 'Glen' will deteriorate. Thus, it is the Glen's job to locate their successor. This successor would likely have some sort of relation to a Child of Ill Omen, and his/her duty, once taking on the title of 'Glen', to sacrifice the Child of Ill Omen to the Abyss by using the Chains of Condemnation provided by the Black Winged Chains. Once sacrificed, the Child of Ill Omen would be delivered to the dark core of the Abyss, where they would be destroyed, thus maintaining the stability of the world. The process of succession only occurs after each Chain the previous Glen had been contracted to has been transfered into their successor's body. This 'Ceremony of Transfer ' is held before the entire Baskerville Dukedom infront of their Door to the Abyss. The initial preparation and transfer of the Chains of Condemnation can vary, though it commonly spans through the course of 10-20 years. Once a Ceremony begins, the current Glen mixes his/her blood with that of his/her Chains, and their successors are meant to drink it, a process similar to that of forming an illegal contract with a Chain. The order of the Chains being transfered also makes a difference in the ceremony. Each Chain is to be passed to Glen's successor in the order that they were contracted with. In Levi's case he transfered Raven first, followed by Owl, then Dodo, then Gryphon and finally Jabberwock to Oswald. Lacie (Deceased): APPEARANCE: Up until Retrace LXV, Lacie's full profile hadn't been shown. Now, Lacie is revealed to share a lot of physical traits with Alice, having the same facial structure, if not a little more defined by maturity. Lacie's hair is also styled differently, as she does not wear braids, but is very similar to Alice's in length yet black rather than dark brown. When she was younger she often wore different dresses in varying colors, she was wearing a simple white summer dress when she met Jack Vessalius. When she is older she wears an entirely purple outfit that consists of a purple choker around her neck with a bow, a purple dress that varies in shades from light to dark with a ruffle design around the shoulders, down the front and at the end of the sleeves, that reach her elbows and dark purple shoes. PESONALITY: Lacie doesn't appear to be mentally stable. Her personality is much like that of the Intention of the Abyss, even mirroring her personality whilst she danced in the raining blood,as the Intention and cheshire did the same in Albus' blood. Her emotions also tend to change fiercely, ranging from blood thirsty and explosive to happy and calm. As an adult, she exhibits more control over her emotions. At times, she shows a bitter streak, although at this point she has accepted her death as an inevitability. She is shown to love singing , and cares for her brother and Levi greatly. As a child, she was argumentative and frequently had rows with Oswald , but as an adult she is calmer and calculative in her actions. Her stability is still questionable, and Levi describes her as fickle and forgetful .She cares for Jack since they were young despite her claims it's heavily hinted she got to love Jack due to his devolution towards her and would feel very deeply regret being lonely without him. It looks as though she hates to observe loneliness, as she often spends her time with others whom seem lonely when she runs off and offers a homeless Jack her company when she was sixteen. Later, while visiting the Core of the Abyss, she brings it a gift so that it won't have to be alone anymore and promises to bring more friends. Intension (Or Will) of the Abyss/ Alyss (Pronounced Alice):
APPEARANCE: The Intention of the Abyss in human form appears as a white version of Alice. She has white hair, in the same style as Alice's, with two plaits, lavender eyes and is seen with either a gentle or crazed expression. She wears an entirely white dress, a simple white frilled one underneath and a white overdress on top with a bow on the back that billows out at the end and laces up the front with white string. On her arms are detachable sleeves that are also laced up at the top. She wears blue or white roses around her neck and around the waist of her dress. She wears white cloth tied around the base of her left leg, near the ankle, and black string around her right wrist. In the anime, she wears two separate black strings that are tied to each of her wrists.Sometimes she appears in the form of a white rabbit doll with huge, crazed eyes, a white dress, blue capelet and a blue bow.
Jack said that while Alice was the Intention she held either a white rabbit doll or Cheshire and wore light colored dresses. She was also easily driven to tears and not as wild and rough as Alice. PERSONALITY: The Intention of the Abyss is soft-spoken and calm at most times, but is also unstable, and known for her rapid mood swings. She is often seen with a friendly smile though she is known to tear people down with her words. While she bears a striking resemblance to Levi, The Intention inherited Lacie's damaged personality as they both danced in the raining blood and they both often shifts emotions, often unnerving those who were with them. They both also seem to be rather forgetful. Despite having most of Lacie's personalty, The Intention also recieved bits of her father's personality. Levi can talk extraordinarily blunt and cold, and yet cheerful, demonstrated when he was informing Lacie of her demise. While The Intention talks in a cheerful, crazed yet somewhat childish tone, seen when she mocked Kevin Legnard (Xerxes Break). Before the Tragedy of Sablier she was lonely, just like Alice was, and rarely smiled. She was ecstatic whenever she could explore outside the Abyss and spend time with Jack. When Alice wore light coloured dresses and had a gentle and easily scared personality, she was the Intention of the Abyss. Overtime, from being so lonely, she has come to no longer desire being the Intention of the Abyss and has asked Break to save her and Alice, showing that despite being cruel to people she does truly care about others besides herself. She appeared to be somewhat more stable and nice prior to the events of 100 years ago. She never hated Alice. The Intention of the Abyss cares for Alice so much. ABILITIES/POWERS: Creating Chains: Due to the fact that the white haired Alice is the vessel for the Core of the Abyss within her, she is able to create chains and even destroy them. She turned a tiny black rabbit doll that was always with her and her sister and had an existence created by the Abyss, into the most powerful destructive chain there is, Oz the B-Rabbit. Also, it seems that all chains obey the white haired Alice's will as chains like Humpty Dumpty in Retrace LIX: Couldn't Put Humpty Dumpty Together screeched," Let's eat the Black Rabbit... The Will of the Abyss." Creating an Ectoplasmic Form: In Retrace 76: Alice&Oz, she and her sister Alice create an ectoplasmic form of their souls after leaving Alice's physical body to get ahold of Oz. Xerxes Break/Kevin Legnard (Deceased):
APPEARANCE: Commonly referred to as Break, he is a member of Pandora and a servant of the Rainsworth household. Like Sharon, Break's appearance did not change during the ten year gap between Oz entering and escaping from the Abyss, on account of having a legal contract with the Mad Hatter. Break is often seen with a doll on his shoulder, which he calls Emily. He adores sweets and cakes. He has short white hair and wine-red eyes. He usually carries a sword disguised as a cane. Break has no left eye, as it was taken by the Intention of the Abyss and given to Cheshire. (As shown in Chapter 030 of the manga: Snow White Chaos)
PERSONALITY: On the surface, Break seems a carefree character, never serious and always smiling, with a weak spot for all kinds of sweets and cakes. Sometimes he eats whole cubes of sugar that which he always brings along with him. When needs be, however, Break can also be sinister and dangerous. Reim tells Oz that Break has not always been the way he is now. Before, after losing his eye and for a short while after, he was a bitter and angry person, never smiling. However, through the kindness of Shelly, Sharon's mother, he began to open up. It seems though that some of the emotions from his past still linger as he becomes slightly depressed when he is reminded of it. He has sworn absolute loyalty to Shelly; promising not to die until he has fulfilled the Intention's wish. Break's true motive is to find the truth behind what happened 100 years ago. He hates Vincent with a passion, due to him ordering Echo to attack Sharon, who afterwards was poisoned by Vincent. In Retrace 42, it is shown that Break has become blind. However, he can still differentiate different objects placed in front of him, but not people's faces. He states that he will lose that ability soon. Break says very early in the series that he might not have another year left of his life, as the strain of his contract is slowly crippling his body. He is therefore eager to achieve his goals as quickly as possible, even taking extreme measures when necessary. He is very protective of Sharon. While he once said that he sees Sharon as a daughter, as Sharon matured with Break looking after her, Sheryl Rainsworth sees it more as a brother-sister relationship. He still looks after and worries about Sharon throughout the series although she is already old enough to do things on her own. There are times when he does not mention where he is going or the condition of his health to Sharon so as not worry her. Sharon especially gets mad when he does this; calling him Mister One-man-show. Break did not immediately tell Sharon about his blindness, fearing it would worry her and make her cry. In the end he finally does tell her and finds Sharon's reaction to be positive and supportive. Sharon Rainsworth:
APPEARANCE: Sharon is a member of Pandora and is a 12-13 year old teenage girl with a height of 5'2. Her appearance does not change from her first meeting with Oz to after she came out of the Abyss because she had a Legal Contract with a Chain, the black unicorn Equus. She has long, caramel colored hair with bangs which goes just above her waist. usually tied back in a ponytail along with a ribbon. She has pinkish-cranberry colored eyes and is usually seen wearing Victorian-style dresses with high heel shoes. Unlike the other characters, she doesn't have an outfit that she constantly wears, resulting in her multiple wardrobe changes. She looks a lot like her mother, Shelly Rainsworth. When she was younger (when she found Xerxes Break) Sharon had the same blue highlights as her mother. PERSONALITY: Sharon is calm, gentle, trustworthy, and kind. She smiles most of the time but she can be serious especially in battles. She has both beauty and brains, however, it is also noted that she can be very intimidating as seen when she threatens Alice to call her Sharon Onee-sama (Big sister) and when she beats up Oz and Break with a paper fan (harisen). She seems to be very protective of Break, as a result of him and her having a close relationship. She was the one that discovered Break in a fatal condition after he came out of the Abyss. When she was young, she used to call Break 'Xerxes-niisan', as he was like a big brother to her. She wants to be of use to him. Sharon loves tea and cakes. Eliot Nightray (Deceased):
APPEARANCE: Elliot has beige-colored hair and blue eyes. He also has 2 blue earings (studs) in each ear. In his first appearance, he wore standard Latowidge uniform. He keeps a blade with his family crest in a violin case. Elliot is hotheaded, blunt and always forces his opinions on everybody else. Ada, however, thinks he is a nice and dependable person deep down. Leo also stated that "he is smart, yet he is still an idiot".
PERSONALITY: He first meets Oz in the Lutwidge library where they get into a fight over a character in the novel series The Holy Knight(Elliot spoils the ending for Oz's favorite character, Edgar: that Edgar dies in an act of self sacrifice). He hated the Vessalius family, a belief that is his fathers. He also doesn't like Ada calling his name and despises how the Vessalius seem to get away with anything just because they were heroes 100 years ago. However, after learning more of Oz and his past, he decides to "judge everything with [his] own eyes". He now views things differently from before, and accepts Oz's friendship. When Gilbert and Vincent first came to the Nightray household, Elliot was told to stay away from them, for they were up to no good. With his previous personality, he tried to accept his brothers' wishes, but couldn't understand the reason, so he grew to accept them more each day, gaining respect for both of them. Though he seems to be greatly annoyed by Gilbert, in reality, he cares about him.
Leo (Elliots servant):
APPEARANCE: Leo has long dark hair (reaching almost halfway down his back, until Vincent cut it) and pitch black eyes reflecting the gold specks of light he sees, but wears glasses to cover them specifically to block out those very lights as well as distract him from the voices. Those glasses were not in Leo's possession until after becoming the servant of Elliot Nightray, proving that he doesn't need them. PERSONALITY: At first Leo seemed to have a rather calm demeanor, though Elliot has revealed that Leo is very violent and unsettled, but usually has a fairly good control over himself. Though, at Oz's Second Coming of Age Ceremony, Leo did show his darker side as he lost it when Elliot was thinking of himself and Leo was stuck in a rattled state as James, someone like family to Leo from the House of Fianna, had recently died. Leo has a terrible temper, it's just that Elliot usually loses his first, which makes him regain his composure in contrast. He seems to care for Elliot though. He and Elliot fought, during which Leo threw a chair and table at Elliot and ran off. Oz managed to calm him down and Leo told him how Elliot and he met.He has great respect for Elliot. He doesn't mind that he has to kill anyone that hurts or harms Elliot in any way. He even told Oz that he would kill himself if he by chance harmed Elliot. |
ABILITIES/POWERS:
- Oz is arguably the most powerful Chain
within the universe of Pandora Hearts. Oz is capable of
summoning numerous bladed chain links that can dismember human bodies as well
as cut through nearly any substance which they come into contact with. This
includes the Chains which surround the world and prevent
Earth from being engulfed by the Abyss, an act which Oz has done twice
throughout the course of his existence. A lesser extension of Oz's powers
include the ability to destroy anything he wishes by turning it into sand.
- Oz has remarkable skill with a scythe, and fairly remedial skill with a sword. - Oz also appears to have the ability to frighten people on a whim by whispering something into their ear; having done so to both a member of the Reveil Gang and Reim Lunettes. Despite Oz's use of this tactic, it is generally unknown what exactly he said to revert his victims to such a weakened state. ABILITIES/POWERS-
As a Chain: While clinging to B-Rabbit's power (as B-Rabbit was created as a chain to destroy other chains), Alice was the most powerful character in the manga, able to tap into Oz's powers of destruction. Throughout the series she wields a black/red scythe. Chains: When in her battle form, she could shoot chains from behind her. Transformation: She could transform into her human form and her Chain form, a humanoid black rabbit. Dust: Alice was able to turn things into dust when accessing B-Rabbit's power, relating closely to Mad Hatter's power, except that B-Rabbit has been shown able to destroy objects from Earth, such as a hack saw and swords, making B-Rabbit's power far less limited compared to Mad Hatter's. (Mad Hatter could only destroy Abyss related things). As a Human: Telepathy: When alive, she had the ability to freely communicate with her sister, Intention of the Abyss without even seeing her. They could also switch minds with each other when needed. Possession: Alice has shown an ability of possessing other bodies. When she contracted Oz, she took possession of his body and tried to use it to get out of Pandora's headquarters. She also used it when she was on the verge of dying. She left her own body and fused with B-Rabbit Oz's instead, taking every last bit of his power. ABILITIES/POWERS: Flames: Raven can create blue flames that are dangerous even the Baskervilles. It is assumed that after too much exposure, these flames would eventually be able to kill the Baskervilles.
Sealing Powers: Raven is able to contain the powers of other Chains. Teleportation: Raven has the ability to teleport to other dimensions, such as the Abyss and Cheshire's Dimension, but doing so causes extreme strain to the contractor. Illusions: Raven can create many huge copies of menacing eyes to intimidate its victims and can also manipulate darkness to seemingly become one with it, although it's power over illusions is not as powerful as Dodo's Guns: Gilbert is quite skilled with his use of guns... he has proved to be quite accurate at times. *Most of these abilities are from Gilbert's chain-raven- where his other name stems from* ABILITIES/POWERS:
Possession:Jack is able to possess and fully control Oz's body and B-Rabbit's power freely. This is because Oz has current possession over his body and was Jack's former chain. Swordsman Skills: Jack is an exceptional sword fighter, though he is weaker than Glen. Manipulation: Jack is very good at lying and manipulating others for his own intentions. He managed to convince Alice (Intention) to forget about Oz and help him with his plan. He also used Miranda and Vincent to open the Door to the Abyss so he could form a contract with the chain strong enough to destroy the world: Oz the B-Rabbit, which The Intention of the Abyss created for the task. Nobility: Jack may have become intimately involved with members of high class families through years as a valet in order to gain higher status and enter the Vessalius dukedom. (assumed). B-Rabbit powers: Because Jack formed a contract with Oz the B-Rabbit, he is able to use his destructive power for whatever he wants. However, it appears that Jack is the only contractor to use his chain's power against their will. Jack is also able to summon the chains supporting the world with Oz's power. Musical: He is able to play a few instruments some highly unusual, and he must have played 'Lacie' for Alice or her sister Alice (Intention) on the piano in their room. Talent/Work: He is also good at making music boxes, and made the pocket-watch that Oz carried around for most of the series. As the Duke, each Glen is protected by their subordinates, but unlike the other three Dukes, Glen is also protected by Jury. Jury is a seemingly immortal member of the Baskerville Dukedom, who's sole duty is to protect each Glen. Her origins remain unknown, as no Glen was ever able to uncover the secrets behind Jury's existence. It's soon revealed that she is a juror and had been using the Baskerville as tools for their stories and wanted to get rid of the Children of Omen for they are the only ones to bypass their control not because they were a threat to the world as it was a lie and they were created by the Core.
After the transfer of the last Chain is completed, the previous Glen then begins to die, their body deteriorating and mutating into a new Chain, and their consciousness transferring to the mind of the new Glen. Thus each new Glen has not only their predecessors consciousness within them, but also that of all the previous Glens' before them. ABILITIES/POWERS: As a chosen Messenger of the Abyss, it was mandatory for Lacie to form a Contract with a Chain. Thus, Lacie formed an Illegal Contract with an as-of-yet unnamed rabbit-like Chain with a crown floating above its head. Through Lacie's Chain, she is capable of summoning forth numerous bladed chain links that can dismember human bodies with ease. Apart from this, it is generally unknown what other abilities Lacie had access to through her Chain.
ABILITIES/POWERS:
Governing the Abyss: She governs and controls all of the Abyss and its Chains. She also is able to destroy chains at will, like how she destroyed Albus in Retrace XXX: Snow White Chaos.Self-Transformation: She can use her rabbit doll as a replica of herself to exist in the human-world. Body Switching: She was able to switch bodies with her twin sister Alice while she was alive. However, it is unknown if Alice inhabited in the white haired Alice's body. On the title page for Retrace LXXIII: A note, white-haired Alice is in her sister's body but her body appears to be vacant or alseep. The Intention in Alice's body. Control Over All Fabric of Existence: As stated by white haired Alice in Retrace XXX: Snow White Chaos, the Abyss's power can transform humans into chains, present willpower to the unwilling, and control all time that has passed and control their dimension" universe/multiverse" in essence, existence itself. Also, she stated it was like a small world's ranged map.The thing chains promise to potential contractors is that they will change the past for them. However, only the Intention of Abyss has ever been seen doing such a thing. She managed to change the fate of the Sinclair family for Kevin Legnard (Xerxes Break) in exchange for Break to protect Alice and to grant her wish, but it still did not end well for the family. Godlike: The Core of the Abyss was the sentient entity that existed before all things within the empty void. The Core of the Abyss can be seen as God within the Pandora Hearts series. Then, the Core of the Abyss proceeded to create all things such as, all of existence, the Abyss:" The Golden Paradise: it's implied that the Abyss served as Heaven, in where souls would be guided by the Core of the Abyss into reincarnation, however this is before the Core of the Abyss merged with the white haired Alice to make the entity known as" The Will of the Abyss." It's stated by Levis"Glen" in Retrace LXVII: Lacie, that the Abyss" Glen is referring to the Core of the Abyss" is the Beginning and End of All Things, further illustrating that the Core of the Abyss is God. Due to that fact, white haired Alice can be seen as Godlike due to the fact that she merged with the Core of the Abyss.Omniscient: Due to the fact, that white haired Alice is merged with the Core of the Abyss, who is basically God, it can be said that Alice is Omniscient by default and Omnipresent. Also, it's stated by Duke Rufus Barma in Retrace XXIX: Rufus Barma, that the Abyss is " All Knowing" as the Abyss records all moments that occur in their world's "existence" making it Omniscient. Break has shown some magical ability. An example would be when Oz was possessed by Alice after they left the Abyss, Break set up a magic trap that kept Oz from moving while showing a magic circle on the floor.
Since he was formerly a knight, Break is also an excellent swordsman. He can easily defeat enemies without the use of his Chain. He deflected Fang's huge blade, given that he was blind and his sword was much smaller. He also stabbed Noise's hand and impaled her stomach. Mad Hatter is Break's current chain. It resembles the Alice in Wonderland character of the same name but gives off a more sinister feel. Mad Hatter resembles a giant top hat with flowery decorations, under which is one big eye. It has the power to reject and destroy the power of the Abyss and exists for the purpose of killing other Chains. Because Mad Hatter is his second contract, it is very dangerous to Break and strains the condition of his body. Even by using a little bit of Mad Hatter's power may leave his body in a critical state, making him cough up blood and almost unable to walk on his own. It is probably that this is also a consequence of his previous contract. As seen in Oz, an illegal contract can give the contractor extreme chest pain and creating a new contract only makes it worse. ABILITIES/POWERS: Equus is Sharon's chain. Equus is in the shape of a black unicorn and is often used by Sharon for data collection. It has the power to warp between places and dimensions, taking people with it. This, however, does not mean that its attacking power is weak. Equus is like a shadow, and is very often in Oz or Break's shadow.
Harisen/Paper fan: Although mostly for comic relief, Sharon has shown to be quite powerful with her harisen when annoyed or angered, beating the likes of Xerxes and Oz, to a pulp easily. Sometimes she beats others when she is embarrassed to hide her feelings. ABILITIES/POWERS:
